Abstract

South Kalimantan Province the poverty level during the period March 2013 - September 2013 decreased from 4.77 per cent (March 2013) to 4.76 percent (September 2013).

During the period March 2013 - September 2013, the number of poor in urban areas increased by 8,918 people (out of 52 048 people in March 2013 to 60 966 people in September 2013), while in rural areas decreased by 7,384 people (out of 129 691 people in March 2013 to 122 307 people in September 2013).

Percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2013 of 3.25 percent, rose to 3.75 percent in September 2013. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas fell, from 5.88 percent in March 2013 to 5.50 percent in September 2013.

The role of food commodities to the poverty line is still greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). In September 2013, the contribution of Food Poverty Line (FPL) to the Poverty Line (RM) of 71.68 per cent, not much different from that in March 2013 amounted to 71.81 per cent

In the period March 2013 - September 2013, Poverty Gap Index (P1) and the Poverty Severity Index (P2) in both urban and rural areas has increased
